Psychological Consultations is a member of The Illinois Psychological Association Predoctoral Internship Consortium (IPAPIC). The mission of IPAPIC is to offer quality psychology training in diverse settings to predoctoral interns in the state of Illinois while also creating networks between trainees, agencies, IPA, and IPA members. IPAPIC endeavors to join together training organizations in the state of Illinois to create opportunities for Illinois psychology interns. A vision of IPAPIC is to grow each and every year by joining with new organizations to offer new training prospects. An important mission of IPAPIC is to offer services to underserved communities. By linking agencies, IPAPIC is able to offer such services, since training and supervision responsibilities are shared by the consortium. Currently, both Associates in Behavioral Science (ABS) and Psychological Consultations (PC) are consortium partners. During the training year, interns will collaborate with other interns in the consortium to participate in various learning activities, as well as an advocacy project with IPA. Both ABS and PC offer excellent training opportunities in therapy, assessment and supervision. To apply to one of the sites in the IPAPIC, please apply through the APPIC website and directory; our APPIC Match number is 215811. Psychological Consultations operates a one year (twelve month) Predoctoral Internship training program as part of IPAPIC, running typically September 1st to August 31st annually; the deadline for internship applications is December 1st, annually. Psychological Consultations strives to provide a structured, organized, pre-planned internship training program designed to provide applicants with appropriate clinical experiences. Through a sequence of ever-increasing training responsibilities and challenging experiences, trainees work towards mastering the necessary skills to become independent professionals. We strive to provide an unmatched breadth and quality of training/experience. As part of the application process, and throughout the training year, trainees are expected to articulate goals and objectives, and to measure their progress towards said stated goals. Internship trainees receive a minimum of two hours per week of regularly scheduled, face-to-face individual supervision with two different Licensed Clinical Psychologists in good standing; supervision is designed to review the trainees caseload and to address a wide range of clinical, ethical, diversity, and training issues. Trainees also participate in, and aid in the facilitation of, two hours of site-wide staffing meetings per week. These meetings are designed to provide opportunities for case conceptualization, didactic presentations, discussions of clinical issues, and other learning activities. In addition, two hours of group peer supervision are expected. Trainees will actively engage in seminars dealing with clinical issues, co-therapy with other staff, group supervision, etc. Our goal is to involve our trainees in every aspect of direct clinical psychological services to our clients, as well as to the nature of running a group private practice. Trainees can expect to spend time engaged in the following activities:
Trainees typically complete a contiguous twelve-month training cycle (September 1st to August 31st) where they complete approximately 2200 hours of experience. Trainees are expected to work full-time, 40-45 hours per week. Trainees are paid via stipend, totally $18,200 annually, paid in $350 weekly installments. The deadline for internship applications is December 1st, annually. For more details, view or download the IPAPIC Training Handbook in PDF form by clicking here.
